Sponsorship Update: November 2022                            Steve Rabson

Here’s a quick reminder about our current sponsors and our superb range of member -benefits.

The Tackle Box

Found at www.tacklebox.co.uk  Gary Peet and his team offer fantastic service across a huge range of products. They also have a rod builder / repair team. If you are in the area the shop is well worth a visit. And if not, you can check out their goods on-line and then talk to them to make your purchases or ask any questions you might have.

They sponsor us mainly by providing a magnificent array of prizes for the raffles held at our AGM and SGM. Gary always ensures that the value of his prizes is well in excess of the cost of the adverts they place in our bulletin. In recent years they have also sponsored the National fish-in at Sywell Reservoir. An organisation that continues to go above and beyond.

Invicta Angling

www.invictaangling.com is the place to find our second tackle sponsor. Where The Tackle Box is big, Invicta more closely resembles those superb Aladdin’s cave type tackle shops of old. How they manage to get so much tackle into the shop is beyond me, but they do and that makes this another great place to visit or to call, whatever your needs may be.

Invicta also sponsor our raffles through superb prizes as well as offering an impressive 15% off all purchases. Give them a call. You won’t be disappointed.

Chris Brown Products

Chris Brown Products www.cbproducts.co.uk have sponsored the group for some considerable time. They produce landing nets, buzzer bars and rod rest systems. There are plenty of angler’s who won’t use anything else and once you have handled their superbly engineered gear you are very likely to join that list.

Chris provides us with vouchers for both of our raffles and these can be used towards purchases of their products. Take a look at their website. It’s well worth it.

Linear Fisheries

You are almost bound to have heard of Linear Fisheries www.linear-fisheries.co.uk but here’s an overview.  Linear are based very centrally near Witney .  They have 7-day ticket waters and 3 syndicate lakes. There’s also a very good on-site tackle shop along with a toilet and shower block.

While it’s fair to say that Linear is best regarded as a carp water, there are tench throughout the complex with some very large specimens to over 11lb.  It’s also well known for its pike, and it now has cats in two of its waters with some specimens going close to 100lb. There are also roach to over 3lb. If you have never fished here, it really is well worth giving it a go. It is also worth attending one of our fish-ins, which provide a great opportunity to learn from those who regularly fish here.

Linear pay for their adverts rather than provide raffle prizes which adds revenue for the group.

The Hook Bait Company

Darren McCann wasl, once again, be present at our AGM and armed with an array of bait buckets for raffle prizes. If you are not aware of his products you ought to be. Check them out at ‘The Hook Bait Company’ on Facebook or contact Darren via ho*******@ya***.uk  He has Tincaberry tench-specific boilie with glug, paste and crumb etc in the same flavour. Of course, he also has baits aimed at carp, barbel and other species.

Harrison Rods

Steve Harrison and his team continue to make superb rods. His products can be seen at www.harrisonrods.co.uk Harrisons are another long-standing sponsor who not only provide us with a pair of rods each year in exchange for the adverts in the bulletin, but also offer us trade prices on their products.

Many of our member’s have taken advantage of the trade price deal and now own one or more of their very fine rods. Many more have won either a single rod or even a pair through our raffles. Once you have held one of them you will find it very hard not to purchase one. Trust me, your tench (or carp) fishing can only be enhanced with these products.

SWS Fisheries

Last year SWS Fisheries took over Management of the fishing on Larky2, Ocean, Road and Island and Railway, collectively called the ‘Larky Complex’.

Matt and his team are working with us again this year and will be offering a spring ticket for the complex for £180(plus key money for £20). I am sure most of you are aware that there have been huge captures of tench from here every year and there’s every reason to expect that to continue as we go forward. For those who wish to take up the offer of a spring ticket please call Matt on 07708 966304. SWS are also offering us a spring ticket as a raffle prize which will be on the raffle table at the upcoming AGM. Members might also be interested in a full ticket for the complex although I understand there is now a waiting list for these.

Finally, Matt tells me that some people called him to arrange a ticket for 2 or 3 days or more. Although he had said he wouldn’t do this he seemed happy enough to do so and I guess this could be a way for a few of you to acquaint or re-acquaint yourselves with the complex.

Medway Valley Fisheries

Tony Pocock and his team who run Abbey Meads, Big Lake and Trout Lake and are again offering a spring ticket.

The fee for a spring ticket running from April 1st to June 30th 2023, for any one water, is £185. If you are interested contact Tony  in**@me**********.com.

Catch Cult

Martin Mumby is happy to continue the Catch Cult deal, with a three-edition order at £1.50reduction for each copy.  Please also note the code mentioned in the bulletin ad.

This is all pretty good – and all for your membership fee! To those who attended the SGM I hope you enjoyed the raffle table packed with quality goods.

Best wishes

Steve Rabson
