First and foremost there is the opportunity to talk with other members in your region and get the benefit of their local water knowledge and rigs to give you a headstart on that new tench campaign.
Also, get access to TenchTalk and Tenchfishers on Facebook the members’ exclusive web forums!
There is the opportunity to share knowledge with other members via our professionally produced bulletin, that usually runs to 60 pages or more of articles and good sociable humour! We also produce an annual results bulletin that records our tench successes across the season, by water and by member. You can also check up on the most successful baits as well.
The national and regional fish-Ins organised each season provide a social opportunity for members to meet. The national fish-in is normally held early in the Tench fishing calendar and we have been visiting the Carp Society Horseshoe Lake for the past few years.
Our sponsors offer good discount on first class tackle.
We hold two national meetings each year (Spring General Meeting in April/May and the AGM in Oct/Nov). These are an excellent opportunity to meet fellow tenchfishers from all parts of the country, to discuss baits, tackle, waters and tactics in general. We normally have a guest speaker in the afternoon and two raffles, one a star prize raffle (normally a pair of rods) and our legendary general raffle with maybe 20 or 30 prizes.
A number of trophies are up for grabs each year, for the largest tench, the largest float caught tench, the best bulletin article etc.
Other discounts and special offers are also available from time to time.
“The Tenchfisher” is the official bulletin of the group and is published bi-annually. The content is both varied and entertaining and there is a good mix of instructional and entertaining articles written by our membership. These bulletins are a valuable source of information, with the odd few now being traded on Ebay as they become collectors items!
Members can also advertise tackle for sale, and there is always a healthy debate about bait formulations and rigs.
All new members receive a copy of a past bulletin on joining.
A separate results report is published at the end of the year. This makes for very interesting reading as it summarises the members catch reports. However, you must send in your annual return to benefit from this publication!
