First and foremost there is the opportunity to talk with our members and get the benefit of their local water knowledge, methods and rigs to give you a headstart on that new tench campaign.
The latest benefit is that all members will be regarded as Affiliated Members of the Carp Society allowing them to fish Horseshoe Lake (subject to the conditions below).
Also, get access to TenchTalk.net, the members' exclusive web forum!
There is the opportunity to share knowledge with other members via our professionally produced bulletin, that usually runs to 60 pages or more of articles and good sociable humour! We also produce an annual results bulletin that records our tench successes across the season, by water and by member. You can also check up on the most successful baits as well.
The fish-ins, both national and regional, each season provide a social opportunity for members to meet. The national fish-in is normally held in May and we have been visiting the Carp Society's Horseshoe Lake for the past few years.
Our sponsors also offer good tackle deals.
We hold two national meetings each year (Spring General Meeting in April/May and the AGM in Oct/Nov). These are an excellent opportunity to meet fellow tenchfishers from all parts of the country, to discuss baits, tackle, waters and tactics in general.
A number of trophies are up for grabs each year, for the largest tench, the largest float caught tench, the best bulletin article etc.
For full details of this offer and lake rules see Aspen Lake Offer - 2010.
In order to fish Horseshoe Lake you will need to:
Take your signed green membership card, your rod licence, photo ID and a passport-sized photograph with you on the first occasion you wish to obtain tickets to fish Horseshoe. You will then be issued with a Carp Society card, which you will use on all the subsequent occasions you wish to fish at Horseshoe.
Members are reminded that as they are visitors to Horseshoe it is their responsibility to ensure that they know and abide by the rules imposed by the Carp Society*. You will not be able to take a guest and under-16s must be family members of the Tenchfishers and be accompanied by a senior member.
Current rates for tickets can be obtained from the Carp Society's website: www.thecarpsociety.com
The Tenchfishers membership list will be revised and forwarded to the Carp Society on the 1 July 2010. Any members who have not paid their subs (due on 1st June) by the 1st July will forfeit the right to fish at Horseshoe. Late payers will be added to the January 1st 2011 list.
New Tenchfisher members joining between 1st January and 30th June will be able to fish Horseshoe from 1 July 2010. Members joining between 1st July and 31st December 2010 will be able to fish Horseshoe from 1st January 2011.
Affiliated membership means that Tenchfishers' members will not be entitled to attend the Carp Society AGM nor have any voting rights. Also they cannot apply for membership of Carp Society syndicate waters.
* If a proven serious breach of the Carp Society's rules is reported to the committee then membership of the Tenchfishers will be withdrawn.
